New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) The capital got a respite from last week's simmering heat, when it recieved light rains in the afternoon today.

The mercury dropped to 32.3 degree celcius, by seven degrees celsius from 40.5 degrees celsius yesterday.

Rain, measuring 5.3 mm, was accompanied by strong breeze, and brought cheer to the people in the capital, who had been having a tough time on account of the heat.

Met department said the change in weather was result of upper air cyclonic circulation over North-West India, created due to low pressure .

The forecast for next 24 hours is partly loudy skies, with dust storms and slight rain over several parts of Delhi.

The maximum temperature in the capital will witness a dip of around four degrees, it said.
