Light rains bring cheers to Jammu people
Jammu, May 2 (UNI) Evening showers, coupled with hailstorm, today brought a much-needed relief to the city and suburb residents from the scorching heat wave that was persistent for the last one weak.
People preferred to stay indoor throughout the day because of searing heat but the light rains and gave respite. Hailstones also fell at many places in the city, bringing temperature to remarkable low.
It was an unexpected relief to the tourists visiting cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi at Trikuta hills of Katra.
With mercury even crossing 41 degree Celsius mark, the entire region was experiencing heat waves.
Met office has forecast cloudy skies and slight rain over several parts of region for the next 24 hours.
