Lecturer caught redhanded while accepting bribe

Bangalore, May 2 (UNI) A Lecturer in Government Diploma College, Belgaum in Karnataka was caught redhanded by Lok Ayukta while accepting bribe from a student for showing an official favour.

A Lokayukta release here today said a trap was laid on April 30 following a complaint from Mr Vijayakanth Ramakrishna Nayak, a Diploma student of M L P Polytechnic College and lecturer Irshad Ahmad S Peerjade was arrested while accepting Rs 6,000 as bribe to pass four students in the practical exam scheduled for May One to Three.

The accused had demanded Rs 1,500 from each of the four students. The lecturer has been remanded to judicial custody.
