Halcyon Castle at Kovalam to be made archaeological monument
Thiruvananthapuram, May 2: The famed Halcyon Castle at the international beach resort of Kovalam, near here, will be made an archaeological monument, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said today.
Briefing newspersons here after a meeting of the state Cabinet, he said the state Cultural Affairs Department would take steps in this regard.
The government took control of the property after a long battle with hotel groups that acquired the Ashoka Hotel from the ITDC as part of the disinvestment programme. The hotal groups claimed that the castle was also part of the multi-crore deal.
