Gambling and betting rackets busted, 149 held in Punjab
Jalandhar, May 2 (UNI) In a special operation against betting racket (dara-satta) and gambling in the garb of lottery, the Punjab Police today arrested nearly 149 accused in four disticts of Jalandhar range.
Senior Superindent of Police Aprit Shulka in a press release issued here stated that the raids were conducted simultaneously in the districts of Jalandhar, Nawanshehar, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur on the directions of Jalandhar Zone IGP Sanjiv Kalra and Jalandhar Range DIG Narider Pal Singh.
He said 149 accused were apprehended red handed along with Rs 2.24 lakh in cash, 49 computers and 44 mobile phones from their possession from all the four districts.
The SSP said that the cases were registered against the accused at different police stations and were further interrogated.
