Electronic mediapersons stage protest over denial of information

Gandhinagar, May 2 (UNI) A large number of electronic mediapersons, who had gone to Police Bhavan here today to seek information on the fake encounter case, lodged a protest outside the office of Director General of Police P C Pande after entry was denied to them.

The agitators staged the protest this afternoon.

The mediapersons had gone to DCP Pande's office to gather information about the fake encounter case. The police officer on duty outside informed them that there was a ban on media in the Bhavan from yesterday.

Mr Pande had taken this step following a spate of ''speculative reports'' appearing in the media, especially the electronic media.

Later, the protesting mediapersons sent a memorandum to the Chief Justice of India and sought his intervention.
