EC recommends suspension of central observer

Lucknow, May 2 (UNI) The Election Commission has recommended the suspension of central observer Arvind Kumar, an IAS officer of Maharastra cadre, for indecent behaviour during his duty in Bhariach.

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said here today that EC has asked the Maharastra government to suspend the officer.

Earlier the commission had taken strong note of the ''indecent behaviour'' of the accused in Bahraich district during the fourth phase of polling on April 23 last.

A FIR has been registered against him and he was booked under charges of loot and issuing life threats to a BSF jawan, who was on poll duty. He had snatched the rifle of the jawan on the night of April 23 and threatened to kill him.

Meanwhile, additional SP of Sant Ravidas Nagar, G K Khanna has been transferred due to a complaint by Congress' D K Rai has been posted in place of Khanna.

Congress had alleged that police were taking no action against a ruiling Samajwadi Party candidate who was openly distributing money to voters.
