Congress to move jointly with TMC against land acquisition
Kolkata, May 2 (UNI) WBPCC's working president Pradip Bhattacharjee today said the party would join hands with the Trinamool Congress to intensify anti-land acquisition movement in the state.
He, however, said the party would keep intact its identity and ideology in the issue.
The PCC had given importance to the issue of land acquisition particularly farmland, in Nandigram from the onset and joining hands with the TMC was not a new thing, he added.
He said since the BJP was not with the TMC in the present movement, the Congress thought it was the right time to empower the opposition forces against the government's anti-farmer policy.
Ms Bhattacharjee said a two-member delegation had attended a meeting TMC and jointly convened by Bhumi Ucchhed Pratirodh Committee(BUPC) on Jalawanalabagh day.
Acknowledging that the PCC leader Jayanta Bhattacharjee today met TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and discussed how to move jointly against the land acquisition issue, Mr Bhattachajee said.
''We will also discus with the central leaders about the issue.'' UNI AKM PC KJ DB2131
