Centre ''shortcharged'' UP: Jaya Bachchan
Gorakhpur, May 2 (UNI) Ruling Samajwadi Party MP and actor Jaya Bachchan today alleged the Centre had ''shortcharged'' the Uttar Pradesh government in releasing development funds forthe state.
Addressing an election rally here, the Rajya Sabha MP said the Mulayam Singh Yadav government had worked towards making UP a developed state by giving the slogan of Uttam Pradesh.
She further blamed the previous governments for the sorry state of affairs in the state.
Ms Bachchan observed that people inhabiting eastern Uttar Pradesh were rich in their thinking, although they were economically poor.
She maintained the pace of development would only accelerate if Mr Yadav returned at the helm.
Meanwhile, noted Bhojpuri singer and actor Manoj Tiwari regaled the audience with his renditions, even as he urged the electorate to vote for the Congress candidates in the ongoing UP assembly poll.
