Centre okays Harmuty-Itanagar rail line
Itanagar, May 2 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh will soon find its place in the country's railway map following Centre's decision to construct a rail line from Harmuty in Asom's Lakhimpur district to Itanagar.
The decision was taken in a meeting between the state ministers and Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu on April 30 last at New Delhi, according to official sources here today.
The meeting also decided to extend the rail line from Morkung Selek in Asom's Dhemaji district to Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district in Arunachal.
Besides, it was decided to convert the meter gauge line to broad gauge on Rangia-Morkung Selek and Rangia-Bhalukpong railway lines in Asom, sources said.
The Centre had also agreed to conduct an immediate survey of railway line from Dhola(Asom) to Roing(Arunachal) and Rupai(Asom) to Parsuram Kund(Arunachal), sources added.
