Buddha Purnima be declared a National Holiday : Idrish Ali
Kolkata, May 2 (UNI) The All India Minority Forum (AIMF) today demanded the decleration of Buddha Purnima a National holiday.
In a statement issued by AIMF president Idrish Ali said, ''The day being an auspicious one snould be declared holiday as per the Negotiable Instrument Act.'' Accusing the state government of being partial towards other religion, Mr Ali said, ''Since the Buddhists do not contribute enough to the vote bank, the politicians do not give much importance to their sentiments.'' The day being a Central holiday is not applicable to the state, he pointed out.
Mr Ali demanded equal treatment for all religious groups.
