Arunachal celebrates Buddha Purnima

Itanagar, May 02 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh today joined rest of the country to celebrate Buddha Purnima with full pomp and gaiety.

A two-day programme has been organised at Theravada Monastery and Buddhist Gonpa here.

Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, also chairman of the state level celebration committee, had called upon the people to adopt the path of Lord Buddha and hoped that the festival would strengthen the integration, brotherhood and mutual understanding among the citizens. Mr Khandu hoisted a flag on the 2550th Maha Pari Nirvana of Lord Buddha which was followed by Sangha Danna, Buddha Vandana and religious discourses.
