Pondy: Admn to generate power from garbages

Puducherry, May 2: The Puducherry administration will decide on generation of electricity or manufacturing manure from garbage after examining the feasibility report, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said today.

Replying to a question in the assembly, he said a Russian firm, which had visited Puducherry and held discussions with officials found that adequate daily garbage required for power generation was not available here.

Besides, being a costlier exercise, it will cause pollution and therefore the government was contemplating on manure manufacturing, he said adding the government would once again examine the feasibility of generating power.
