Workshop on gender equality in Indian media to be held on May 3

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) A workshop on gender equality in Indian media would be organised on May 3 to highlight problems and challenges faced by women journalists in the country.

The workshop is being organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to mark the world Press Freedom Day.

The workshop will be inaugurated by Minister of Information and Broadcasting P.R. Dasmunsi and will be presided over by Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury.

Inaugural session will also be addressed by eminent journalist and Editor of Hindustan Mrinal Pandey and Indian Women Press Corps President Sushma Ramachandran.

Presentations will be made by the distinguished journalists on topics like 'Challenges before the news Media and gender equality' by Ms. Akhila Sivadas, 'The representation of women in print media' by Ms. Angana Parikh and 'The representation of women in electronic media' by Ms Shelaja Vajpayee. It will be followed by panel discussions.
