Udaipur bandh in support of arrested IPS officer

Udaipur, May 1 (UNI) A total bandh was observed in lake city of Udaipur today in support of IPS officer Dinesh M N, arrested in fake encounter case, in which Sohrabuddin, an alleged extortionist was killed.

The bandh, first of its kind by the general public, had been called to demand release of a government official.

The bandh remained peaceful barring one or two sporadic incidents.

Business establishments supported the bandh and downed shutters today.

Public transport went off the road, after window panes of some vehicles were broken on Sukher bypass. The shutdown effect could be seen in government offices.

Dinesh M N was a superintendent of police in Udaipur on Nov 26, 2005, when the fake encounter was supposed to have occured wherein Sohraduddin and his wife Kausar Bi were killed.

Dinesh M N, an encounter specialist has been arrested for his involvement in the encounter.
