Two observers appointed for Shimla Corporation elections

Shimla, May 1 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh State Election Commission today appointed HRTC Managing Director Srikant Baldi Finance and Planning Secretary Arvind Mehta as observers for the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections, to be held on May 23.

Mr Mehta would be observer for Ward Numbers one to 13 and Mr Baldi for Ward Numbers 14 to 25, an official spokesman said in a release here.

He said the observers would liaison with Shimla District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to assess whether proper law and order arrangements have been made and would also oversee preparation for polling and counting.

The officers would send first report after the poll was over to the Election Commission, second report after counting was over and third report at the end of the poll, highlighting any specific point that should be brought to the Commission's notice, he added.
