Top ULFA rebel gunned down in Asom

Guwahati, May 1 (UNI) A hardcore ULFA rebel was killed by security forces at Sadiya in upper Asom last night.

A security source said the militant, identified as 'sergeant major' of the ULFA's 28th battalion Sanjay Chiring, was gunned down during an encounter with troops of the 11 Sikhlai Regiment at Saikhowa Ghat, about 3 km from Dhola police station in Tinsukia district.

A hand grenade, a mobile set, some cash and incriminating documents were seized from the slain militant.
