Sugarcane pricing in June: Maharashtra CM

Kolhapur, May 1: Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has said that a meeting will be convened during the first week of June to decide on the sugarcane pricing.

Talking to reporters here last evening, Mr Deshmukh said the priority before the State Government at present was to ensure that sugarcane crushing was completed by May 31.

Mr Deshmukh admitted that some sugar factories had paid the first instalment of Rs 900 per tonne to the sugarcane growers but had not paid the second instalment of Rs 380. In Marathwada and Khandesh regions, some sugar mills had not paid the first instalment even, he said.
