Storm disrupts train service

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, May 1 (UNI) Rail traffic on Howrah-Mumbai route remained affected today due to disruption in electricity supply after a tree uprooted in heavy storm fell on overhead traction lines last night near Chakradharpur in Orissa.

Many trains originating from Howrah were running behind schedule with Howrah-Mumbai Mail late here by seven and half hours, Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express 4 hours, Howrah-Kurla Gyaneshwari Express 4 hours and Howrah-Ahmedabad Express 2 hours 45 minutes late, said a spokesperson of the South Eastern Central Railway here.

Similarly, traffic was affected on Bilaspur-Katni route also yesterday due to snapping of overhead power line at Jaithari Station. An uprooted tree fell on the Down track near Tenganmada station. Traffic was restored around 1800 hours.
