Spanish apartment block collapses, 2 dead
Madrid, May 1: A five-storey apartment block in the Spanish city of Palencia collapsed this morning, killing at least two people and injuring 16 others, Spanish media reported.
State television quoted firemen as saying a gas leak was the likely cause of the blast at around 6 am local time (0930 hrs IST).
Television news showed rescue workers crawling over the rubble of the flattened building and carrying out residents on stretchers.
The building was near the cathedral in Palencia, 240km north of Madrid.
