Rahul invokes youth to uproot 'goonda raj'
Varanasi, May 1 (UNI) Terming the participation of youth power essential for any peoples' movement, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi today appealed youth of Uttar Pradesh to join the Congress' cause of uprooting 'goonda raj' from the state.
Addressing an election rally at Rajatalab on the outskirts of the holy city, Mr Gandhi said during the 17-year non-Congress rule in UP, the prosperous state has degenerated into a lawless state.
''UP was once known for guiding the nation in terms of prosperity and development, but successive non-Congress governments in this most populous state have meant everything except development.'' ''Instead of developing UP in all respects, especially generating employement for jobless youth, the non-Congress ruling parties have only fostered division on caste and communal lines and abetted crime and corruption,'' Mr Gandhi alleged.
''Bhrastachaar aur arajakta ke karan is pradesh ke sabhi vikas purush doosre rajyon ke vikas mein apni sahbhagita pradan kar rahe hai'' (promising youth of UP, owing to corruption and anarchy have migrated to other states to establish industrial ventures).
''Had there been adequate infrastructural development in the state by the non-Congress governments, the promising youth with entrepreneurial ambitions would not have migrated to other states,'' he went on to say.
The Amethi MP alleged that even the central funds have hardly been utilised by the present UP government in development of the state.
''Only god knows where does the central funds disappear after arriving in Lucknow from New Delhi,'' Mr Gandhi mocked.
