Port Blair gets a brief spell of rain

Port Blair, May 1 (UNI) A brief spell of rain lashed some parts of Port Blair and its adjacent areas today but it was not enough to bring the dwellers relief from the scorching heat.

The Met Department here has termed such occasional rains as the pre-monsoon showers.

Meanwhile, the Met office has recorded 40.7 mm rainfall during January-April, 2007 in Port Blair.

However, the Met office has forecast the Southwest Monsoons to arrive here by May 28.

Port Blair is facing a water shortage for the last three months due to a delay in the monsoons and scanty rainfall in November-December, 2006.
