Mulayam's effigy burnt in Tripura

Agartala, May 1 (UNI) The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (TPYCC) burnt an effigy of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav here.

The TPYCC was protesting yesterday against alleged police atrocities on Congress workers during the election campaign in that state.

In a statement issued here today, the TPYCC criticised the chief minister saying that despite having due permission of holding campaign rally, the UP police 'harassed' the Congress workers on April 29.

The statement also criticised Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh for his adverse comment against Rahul Gandhi.

The party workers organised a protest rally in the capital town last evening.
