Modi concerned over female foeticide in Gujarat

Junagadh, Gujarat, May 1 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today expressed concern over incidence of female foeticide in the state.

He was speaking after unveiling the statue of legendary freedom fighter Rani Lakshmibai at the Sardarbag Circle here today on the occasion of the 47th annivesary of Gujarat's foundation.

Mr Modi, while referring to the male:female ratio of 1000:850 in the state, pointed out that such an imbalance could prove detrimental.

Earlier, Mr Modi recalled Rani Laxmibai's contributions in the country's fight for freedom and said the legend of Rani Lakshmibai stood tall and her story would forever remain a source of inspiration for crores of women in India.
