Meet aimed at rationalising adoption process on May 3-4

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) A two-day meet on Adoption would be held here from May 3 to review related issues and get feedback from the state governments and agencies concerned for rationalisation of the process.

The Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), a body of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, is organising the meet for its partner/associated agencies.

The meet will be inaugurated by Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury and will be attended by senior officials of state governments dealing with adoption matters, representatives from placement agencies, and Homes run by NGOs/state governments getting grant-in-aid from Union Government for running Shishu Greh Scheme, Adoption Coordinating Agencies and other associated agencies.

The meet will include sessions on adoption scenario in the states, implementation of Juvenile Justice Act particularly related to adoption matters, suggestions from states governments/associated agencies about In-country Guidelines and Inter-country Guidelines, issue of child protection, preparation of Centralised Database and facilities for registration of prospective adoptive parents in the country.
