'Master blaster' in virgin comics

Bangalore, May 1 (UNI) Apart away from cricket the Indian master blaster Sachin Tendulkar will soon be a comic book super hero showing dare devilry and remain an icon among the youth of the country.

According to an agreement with Virgin Comics, Tendulkar will be featured in various escapades and actions in the comics named as 'master blaster.' of which, the first issue would come in July.

Mr Samarjit Choudhry, Senior Vice-President of Gotham Entertainment Group, which distributed Virgin comics in India and other parts of South, South East Asian and West East Asian countries told UNI that the ''master blaster'' brand was a joint property of both Tendulkar and Virgin Comics.

Master blaster would have India focus and based on Indian stories.

LBesides comics, games, mobile content and other entertainment avenues would be explored to promote the brand, he said.

Virgin commics would also come out with a series on Ramayana called ''Ramayana 3392 AD.'' The first issue should be out sometime this month or June, he added.

Virgin Comics have already been publishing three major Indian comics, including 'Devi' and 'Snake Woman.' Besides, it also has exclusive rights for the region for distributing DC and Marvel comics.

He said comics were seen as the first book of children and there was tremendous scope. The company was currently printing around 150,000 to 170,000 copies and by the end of October, the number is expected to cross around 225,000. As many as 15 titles are released monthly and they included series relating to spiderman, batman, superman, X-man, Hulk.
