Massive fire breaks out in Tangra

Kolkata, May 1(UNI) A massive fire raged through a rubber factory at D C Dey road in Tangra, in the eastern part of the city, today.

Fire Brigade headquarters sources told UNI that the fire broke out at 1545 hrs and 19 fire engines had been pressed into service to bring the flames under control.

There were no reports of any loss to property or life. The rubber factory was closed today as it was May Day and a holiday.

Pillars of smoke were visible from a distance as the fire started spreading quickly.

Tangra being a congested area, with a huge number of leather factories around, the fire brigade has been facing difficulty to control the fire.
