Srinagar, May 1 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today said the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit had been directed by its mentors across the border to target the leaders of the moderate Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Addressing a news conference here, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, S M Sahai said the LeT militants have been tasked to target and intimidate the moderate Hurriyat leaders.

This was evident by a grenade attack on the residence of Mirwaiz Farooq on January 15 this year, he added.

However, the IGP said the case has been solved with the arrest of 13 militants of the Siddiq Group working under the direct command of the Lashkar's Pakistani commander, Abu Tahir.

Mr Sahai said the group was also found to be involved in a grenade attack on the headquarters of the moderate Hurriyat Conference at Rajbagh here on January 31 this year.
