HP to formulate policy for change of land use: CM

Shimla, May 1 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said a suitable policy will be formulated for the change of land use in the state, especially in the industrial areas.

Presiding over the 27th meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority here, he said since several enterprises were likely to shift to manufacturing other industrial products, it was time a policy was formulated to facilitate change in land use after observing all codal formalities.

Mr Singh also granted provisional permission to 13 additional units of Godrej Bewerages and Foods Limited, Lafarge India and Gujrat Ambuja Cements, and Guardian Water Resources to set up their units in the state with an investment of 1,586 crore.

With this, the total investment in the state has risen to Rs 26,152 crore after the announcement of the industrial package with a potential to employ to 3,19,547 people, he said.

He said his government was discouraging polluting, higher land and water consuming units and to those units that provide less employment to the local youth.

The Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority had been constituted to ensure systematic and planned development of the industrial towns, he said.

State Industries Minister Kuldeep Kumar, who was also present on the occasion, said dispersal of industrial activities in the interior parts of the state was essential and special packages had been announced for them.
