Hearing into hit-and-run case involving Salman Khan on Friday

Mumbai, May 1 (UNI) The Metropolitan Court will record the evidence of witnesses on Friday in a hit-and-run case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

Defence counsel Dipesh Mehta told UNI that they had moved an application and the court had earlier exempted the actor from physical presence.

On last occasion, the trial proceedings had to be adjourned as witnesses in the case did not remain present for recording their evidence.

Salman Khan had allegedly rammed his vehicle into a bakery on September 28, 2002 at Pali Hill road, Bandra. One person was killed and four others were injured in the mishap.

Initially, Salman Khan was booked under 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code for negligent driving.

But, later, the prosecution had moved the court for an alteration of the charges. The charges were, subsequently, modified and the trials into the case had commenced in Metropolitan Court at Bandra.
