Govt agencies procure 90 per cent wheat in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, May 1 (UNI) Government procuring agencies have purchased 90 per cent of the total arrival of wheat in the mandis of Haryana.

During the last rabi reason, 78 per cent of the total wheat was purchased by the Government agencies while the traders have purchased 22 per cent.

Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said out of the total wheat arrival of 27.97 lakh metric tonnes (MTs), 25.14 lakh MTs had been procured by six government procuring agencies. This was 2.84 lakh MTs more than the total procurement of 22.30 lakh MTs during the last rabi season.

He said HAFED had procured 9.55 lakh MTs, Food and Supplies Department 6.05 lakh MTs, Food Corporation of India 2.82 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.46 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2.25 lakh MTs and Confed 1.99 lakh MTs.
