Governor calls upon people to practise Buddha's teachings

Mumbai, May 1 (UNI) Maharshtra Governor S M Krishna today appealed to people to rededicate themselves to the principles of non-violence as practiced by Lord Buddha.

Conveying his greetings to the people on the occasion of 'Buddha Poornima', Mr Krishna, in his message said, ''I convey my heartiest greetings to the people on the most auspicious occasion of Buddha Poornima. Bhagwan Buddha's life was a constant pursuit of enlightment.

After reaching enlightment, he showed mankind the righteous path to end suffering and lead a peaceful life, full of compassion and love for the underprivileged. Let us all rededicate ourselves on this occasion to the principles of non-violence and compassion preached and practised by Bhagwan Buddha in his own life,'' Mr Krishna said in his message.
