Girl, 12, critical after being shot in head

LONDON, May 1 (Reuters) A 12-year-old girl was in a critical condition today after being shot in the head in Manchester.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The girl, who has not been named, was shot in the Gorton area of the city at 7.30 pm (0100 hrs IST) on Monday and taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to a house in Gorton after reports of a shooting, but could not confirm what kind of gun had been fired.
