G L Gupta new Lokayukta in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 1 (UNI) Rajasthan High Court's retired Judge Justice G L Gupta was today sworn in as Lokayukta in Rajasthan.

Governor Pratibha Patil administered the oath of office to Justice Gupta in a simple ceremony held at the Rajbhawan here this afternoon.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, several of her ministerial collegues, Leader of the Opposition in state assembly Ram Narain Chaudhary and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

However, mediapersons were not allowed to attend the ceremony.

The post was lying vacant since November 2004 after the expiry of the term of Justice Milap Chand Jain.
