Exports up by 23 per cent in 2006-07

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) India's exports for the period April-March, 2007 was Rs 5,63,800.06 crore as against Rs 4,45,657.97 crore during the same period last year, indicating a growth of 23.88 per cent, according to the provisional data for merchandise exports available from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S).

The exports during the month of March, 2007 were valued at Rs 55,400.45 crore as compared with Rs 48,511.93 crore in March, 2006.

The cumulative value of India's imports during April-March, 2007 was Rs 8,20,568.13 crore which was higher than imports at Rs 6,20,826.68 crore during April-March, 2006.

Imports during the month of March, 2007 were valued at Rs 72,127.53 crore compared with Rs 61,435.58 crore in March, 2006.

Crude Oil imports were valued at 4,597.64 million dollars in March, 2007 compared with 4,202.92 million dollars in the corresponding period last year thus registering a growth of 9.39 per cent.

Crude Oil imports during April-March, 2007 were valued at 57,271.10 million dollars which was 30.31 per cent higher than Crude oil imports of 43,951.27 million dollars in the corresponding period last year.

Non-oil imports were estimated at 11,785.30 million dollar during March, 2007 which was 16.55 per cent higher than growth on non-oil imports of 10,111.47 million dollar in March, 2006.

Non-oil imports during April-March, 2007 were valued at 1,24,097.15 million dollars which was 24.74 percent higher than the level of such imports valued at 99,481.88 million dollars in April- March, 2006.

The trade deficit for April-March, 2007 was estimated at 56,738.77 million dollars which was higher than the deficit of 39,630.72 million dollars during April-March, 2006.
