Expansion of rural telecom network to benefit NE
Shillong, May 1: The Centre has come up with a proposal to expand telephone network in rural and remote areas.
About 70 districts in the NE, covering about 9,000 villages are to benefit through a scheme launched by the Centre, an official statement said today.
The scheme envisages support for setting up and managing 7871 infrastructural sites to extend Wireless Access Services.
The scheme is proposed to be implemented by June 2008, official sources said.
