EC suspends CDO Kushinagar for violating model code

Lucknow, May 1 (UNI) Election Commission has suspended Kushinagar Chief Development Officer(CDO) H S Chaturvedi with immediate effect for violating the model code of conduct.

State additional CEO Mritunjay Narain said here today that the CDO was found guilty of releasing developmental funds after the announcement of assembly polls on February 21.

''The action was taken after a probe by the district Returning Officer of Kushinagar'', he said adding that departmental probe has also been instituted against him.

Meanwhile, the EC has taken strong note of the ''indecent behaviour'' of a central observer Arvind Kumar in Bhariach district during the fourth phase of polling on April 23 last.

A FIR has been registered against the Maharastra batch IAS officer and the Commission is contemplating stringent action against the official.

Earlier, the central observer was booked under charges of loot and issuing life threats to a BSF jawan, who was on poll duty. He had snatched the rifle of a BSF jawan on the night of April 23 and threatened to kill him.
