Dodsal wins $1bln oil production contract
Dubai, May 1: India's engineering giant Dodsal and Company has won one-billion-dollar contract from Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to enhance oil production at Qarn Alam in Central Oman.
Dodsal officials confirmed the company won the major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract through competitive bidding process.
They said the work would start within a month and will take three years to complete the project.
Qarn Alam steam injection project, which is expected to have a project cost of approximately one billion dollars, is set to become the largest of its kind in the world.
When Dodsal completes the project, oil production from the field will go up substantially, Oman Observer reported.
The oil flow from Qarn Alam, one of the oldest oil fields in the country that started production way back in 1970s, had diminished in the recent past due to the heavy nature of oil.
As the quoted rates in the contracts were high originally, PDO split the work into three to re-tender it later, which Dodsal won.
