Crude bombs explode in Dhaka, Sylhet; no injuries reported
Dhaka, May 1 (UNI) Two crude bombs exploded at railway stations here and Sylhet today but no injuries were reported, police said.
An Islamic militant outfit is suspected to have perpetrated this act to stop the activities of NGOs and the Quadiani Muslim community in Bangladesh.
Police said some leaflets containing their demands were circulated at Kamlapur railway station in Dhaka at the time of the blast at 0645 hrs local time. The bomb at Sylhet station was exploded within half an hour at 0715 hrs local time.
Police could not immediately confirm the name of the Islamic outfit.
On August 17, 2005 the banned Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) launched simultaneous bomb attacks in the country's 63 district headquarters to press for the establishment of Islamic laws in Bangladesh.
Recently, six top JMB leaders including its chief Sheikh Abdur Rahman and his second-in-command were hanged. Several hundred JMB militants are now in different jails.
