CPI(M) to organise massive campaign in Chennai
Tiruchirapalli, May 1 (UNI) Tamil Nadu unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) will organise a massive campaign in Chennai next month to highlight various issues in the state, CPI(M) State Secretary N Varadarajan said today.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the party's national leaders would attend the campaign, in which lakh of comrades would participate.
He said the campaign would highlight various issues, including untouchability, two-tumbler system prevalent in the villages and price hike of essential commodities.
He urged the DMK-led state government to take immediate action to prevent atrocities against the dalits.
The national conference of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will be held in Chennai for five days from May seven, he said and added that West Bengal Chief Minister Budhadhev Bhattacharya and senior CPI(M) leaders would participate in the conference.
He also urged the Centre to implement the recommendations of National Farmers Commission Chairman M S Swaminathan.
He alleged that the UPA government had failed to take any concrete steps to address the long pending demands of the farmers.
He urged the state government to constitute an all party committee, which included government officials, to strictly monitor the implementation of welfare schemes.
