Court rejects parents' bail in dowry case
Bhopal, May 1 (UNI) A local court today rejected the bail plea of a couple whose son, the relative of a state minister, mysteriously disappeared just before his wedding.
Special Judge Anurag Shrivastav ruled that the case was linked to dowry. Therefore, the petition by Siddharth Shinde's parents Jaya and Pratap was turned down.
The Bench accepted Advocate Manoj Jain's application alleging harassment for dowry. Mr Jain's contention was supported by Prosecutor P N Singh Rajput. The accused were represented by Advocate Ajay Mishra.
Siddharth and the bride-to-be Divya Tiwari are both in the software industry and employed in Hyderabad. They became close friends and the families agreed to the union.
On April 26, Shinde was to arrive here with a wedding party from Indore. When the groom's party failed to turn up, the Tiwari family lodged a police complaint that a dowry demand of Rs 15 lakh was made and could not be met.
Siddharth is related to Minister of State for Higher Education Tukojirao Pawar.
