BJP demands arrest of Cong MP, judicial probe into clashes
Hyderabad, May 1 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded the arrest of Hindupuram Congress MP Nizamuddin in connection with yesterday's alleged attack on Dalits in Kadiri town of Anantapur district.
Condemning the attack on Dalits allegedly by the MP's supporters and activists of the All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), BJP Secretary N Indirasena Reddy alleged at a press conference here that the police was acting in a ''partisan manner'' following ''pressure'' from the ruling party and demanded a judicial probe in to the incident.
A BJP delegation, led by BJP State President Bandaru Dattatreya, left for the trouble-torn town to console the victims, he said, criticising Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for not visiting the spot.
''The attack on Dalits has come at a time when the State Government is conducting 'Prajapatham Programme' with a focus on the development of Dalits,'' BJP Dalit Morcha General Secretary E Lingam lamented and demanded compensation for the victims.
