4 police personnel arrested for extortion

Lucknow, May 1 (UNI) Four personnel of Government Railway Police (GRP) were arrested for extorting money from the railway passengers travelling in Satyagrah Express (1273) in Sitapur district.

The personnel were arrested yesterday evening in Sitapur district on charge of extorting money from the travellers, following a FIR lodged against the policemen by the passengers.

GRP sources told UNI that the action was taken after cases were lodged against Satyagrah Express GRP escort party members Bhupinder Singh, Jeetendra Pandey, Rameshwar Goswami and Amarnath Rai for allegedly extorting money from them.

All four policemen were suspended with immediate effect and later they were arrested.
