Wolfowitz should stay as World Bank chief
WASHINGTON, Apr 30 (Reuters) President George W Bush today said embattled World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz should stay in his job and be given a fair hearing, and that the issue was not discussed with European Union leaders.
''He ought to stay. He ought to be given a fair hearing. And I appreciate the fact that he has advanced, he's helped the World Bank recognize that eradication of world poverty is an important priority for the bank,'' Bush told reporters when asked about Wolfowitz who is caught up in a scandal involving a pay raise for his girlfriend.
