We will overcome power scarcity: Deshmukh
Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said with collective efforts, the State would overcome power scarcity as the government was giving immense priority to the sector.
In his message, which will be aired and telecast tomorrow on the occasion of May day, Mr Deshmukh said that in the industrial sector the State has achieved premier position in the last two years.
He said in last one year there was an investment of Rs 43,000 crore in the State for 38 Mega Watt projects.
While acquiring the land for special economic zones the interests of the farmers will be protected, he added.
Mr Deshmukh said a provision of Rs 4,521 crore has also been made for removing the backlog of various regions in irrigation.
The efforts to change the face of Mumbai and to make it international city are also on, he added.
