Vice Adm Yogendra Singh to Take Charge as DGAFMS
New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Vice Admiral Yogendra Singh is to assume office tomorrow as the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services.
He succeeds Vice Admiral Vijai Kumar Singh who retired today.
Vice Admiral Yogendra Singh was hitherto Director General Medical Services (Navy) -- a charge he assumed doffing his Army olive greens. Earlier, as Lieutenant General, he was Commandant of the Army Medical Corps Centre at Lucknow.
Vice Admiral VK Singh -- earlier in the day -- attended office straight from the hospital bed at Army Hospital (Research&Referral) where he was undergoing intensive treatment subsequent to a cerebral stroke he suffered late last month. An ENT (Ear, Nose&Throat) specialist of repute -- with expertise in cochlear transplant, Vice Adm VK Singh remained a Navy surgeon all through his Armed Forces career.
