Veterinary students go on fast

Chennai, Apr 30 (UNI) A section of students of the Government Veterinary Colleges here and in Namakkal observed a day's fast at the college premises here today demanding among other things provision of jobs to about 3,000 veterinary doctors who had been unemployed for years.

They also demanded the appointment of veterinary doctors in all government veterinary sub centres, appointment of one veterinarian for every 5,000 catle population as per the recommendations of the National Agriculture Commission and not privatising artificial insemination as it would affect the interest of the farmers.
