UP approves CBI probe into killing of AMU students

Lucknow, Apr 30 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today approved a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the murder of two Aligarh Muslim University students which had led to a stand off betwen students and teachers.

Two AMU students were killed within a span of 28 days following which the central university had sought a CBI probe.

Principal secretary (Home) K Chandramauli said here that state government have agreed for a probe by the central agency. ''A letter is being sent to the Union government in this regard,'' he informed.

Students had resorted to violent protests, including dharnas and demonstrations, which had forced the university administration to postpone the annual examinations till April 30 (today).
