Three Indians confirmed dead in Karbala, buried there

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) India today confirmed the deaths of three of its nationals in a bomb explosion at Karbala in Iraq and said they had been buried there as per the wishes of their families and the usual religious practice of burying pilgrims in case of their death in the holy town.

There are no reports of injuries to any other Indian national in the blast, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.

The three Indian pilgrims were among 58 people killed in a car bomb explosion in the holy city of Karbala on April 28, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.

They have been identified as Hussein Rampurwala, Aun Mahabaleswarwala and Mohammed Mahabaleswarwala, all from Mumbai.

The families of the deceased had been informed about the tragic incident, the spokesman said.

The Indian Embassy had also been informed that their bodies had been buried in Karbala on April 29 as per the wishes of their families and the usual religious practice of burying pilgrims in case of their death in Karbala.

The three deceased were part of a group of 12 Indian pilgrims.

''There are no reports of injuries sustained by any other Indian national in the blast,'' the spokesman added.
