Six convicted in fodder scam case

Ranchi, Apr 30 (UNI) A CBI court here today convicted six accused in connection with the multi-crore odder scam case.

The quantum of sentence will be delivered on May 3.

The court, however, acquitted two others in the case.

Rs 5.5 lakh had been siphoned off from the Pakur treasury during the scam.

CBI judge Manoranjan Kavi pronounced the judgment after hearing both the parties.

The court today found six people guilty out of nine accused, while two persons were set free on benefit of doubts. The rest one--Md. Basmudin, the sub-divisional Animal husbandry officer and the main accused died while facing trial.

Three convicts- Dr Bimal Kant Das, Dipesh Chandra Trivedi and Pratap Narayan Jha- were taken into judicial custody.

Shiv Kumar Kaka, appearing on behalf of CBI, informed the court that late Md. Basmuddin, the main accused was in additional charge of Sahebganj transferred Rs 5.5 lakh to Pakur office and misused the fund.
